Route description

This route allows us to cross from La Cerdanya to Andorra over 2.200 metre high mountain tracks.  Magnificent views of the north side of La Sierra del Cadí and all the Cerdaña plains.

From the RN 260, in the village of Martinet, we take a paved mountain road to the village of Les. Once there, we take a road towards the Cap del Rec refuge, at an altitude of 1987 metres. Once there the paved road ends and we take a bumpy but generally well maintained forest track that will take us to the Pradell refuge, next to the Setut gorge. The traveller will be pleased to find a fire place and hearth. Further along we find the unguarded refuge of Pollineres, next to the fountain of the same name where there is a leisure area with tables and barbacues.

5 kilometers from the refuge we leave the track that would lead us to Arànser and we turn right bordering the refuge of El Prat de Miró towards the Coll de dalt. At this point the track flattens, with high mountain meadows and excellent views. We border the Aristoti fountain and we get to the highest point of our journey at nearly 2.200 meters.

We follow the track up to the bucolic forestry refuge of El Prat de Midós. Since we now enter a track full of loose stones, although the degree of dificulty is not too great, we must nontheless drive carefully. A flexible barrier along the way will scratch the car unless somebody gets out to hold it back. Finally we get to the river Bescaran, easily crossed, and we climb to the banks of the river Cintó right at the foot of Fontpedrós. Later on we will be able to cross into Andorra over the Sarset hill and the Pimes gorge. We will need our full 4X4 power to climb the first slope that we encounter on that side of the Pyrenees for, although short, it is really steep.

Our route ends on the far side of the Rabassa cross country ski slopes which we reach by way of the Roca de Pimes mountain refuge. Before long we are once again in the tarmac station car park.
